I did it. I now have a new blog. If you’ve been following along the last few years here I’d love you to come on over and follow me in the new space. It looks so much sweeter over there. I have worked hard trying to come up with the color scheme and new header. I’m serious when I say I think I might have remade that header about 20 times. I’m pretty satisfied with it now. I hope you all like it. So, here’s your official invite:

I got fired. That’s as plain as I can make it. I know I’ve eluded to before but I’ve never really discussed the issues I’ve had at work. I’ve been the subject of harassment on the job for a number of years now. It all stemmed from the clothes I wear but I guess the deeper root of it is, in my previous workplace, having a free spirit intimidates people . I was asked to go home to change a skirt I was wearing and I refused to do so and I was fired for insubordination. The rule there is no skirts more than 2” above the knee. The skirt in question was touching my knee. So, you might know why I was a little more than displeased when I was asked to change it. I’m gonna say this and then I’m going to shut up about the whole firing thing and then we are all going to move forward. Every time I’ve ever been talked to about my clothes there have been numerous people on the same day wearing an article of clothes of the same sort and were not talked to. The dress code there (with numerous other rules made up on the spot) only applied to me and a few others. Every time I did a large wardrobe post on this blog I was reprimanded at work for my clothes. I would stop posting wardrobe post for a while till the dust settled but when I would resume I’d be called back in. Could be a coincidence but I don’t think so. Knowing that I was being watched made me feel like I had to be very careful about what I said on here and as you can tell, a bit paranoid. I guess this is all I have to say about it. I don’t like hanging out in the past. I’m a keep movin’ forward kinda gal.

I’d like to say thank you for all the support I’ve received since leaving in the form of calls, text messages, voicemail and emails. Every time B’s anger flares up I remind him of who you all are and how much love and friendship you’ve shown us. I know it was a big risk for any of you to contact me but you can rest assured no one will ever see any of it. I just want you to know you are appreciated.

Now you all know what happened and we’ll never talk of this again. Here’s why.

I feel amazing right now. I kept waiting for that moment where I’d begin to feel like I got screwed over to creep in or for that moment I’d begin to imagine the management sitting around gloating over their win. Those moments never happened. I feel like I won the lottery. Now, I am still trying to figure out what to do with myself since I’m not working 8 hours a day/5 days a week but I’ve got lots of plans.

One of the things I have in my plans is to start a new blog. It’s time to move on. I know I don’t have a ton of readers but I do have some consistent friends on here that know me pretty well. With this in mind I’m gonna ask you all a favor. Can you tell me what sort of post you’d like to see on the new blog? This would really help me out. I have a few ideas and many of them don’t fall far from this tree. I don’t think I’d mix it up a whole lot different but if there is anything that interest you that you’d like to hear more of I’d be curious to find out what that is.

Now, back to the other plans. I’m gonna be meditating, working out and anything else that will help me to heal my soul from the battered ball of dust it has become. I just want to get back to the girl who used to always think positive and had a much better attitude. I think it might be a while before I can reenter the workplace and maybe if I’m lucky I’ll figure out a way to make my own way in the world and not have to make that reentrance.

One fun thing that has emerged is that everyday I get to wear whatever I want to. Now I’m trying to reimagine my wardrobe. I want to begin to dress like I once did but it’s gonna take me a while to figure things out again. I’ve been so scared for so long I’ve almost forgotten who I am. I’m gonna get it back and while I’m working on it I’ll be singing this anthem:

we have so much going on. last night i couldn’t sleep from thinking of it all.

i know you’re thinking i’ve given up blogging. i guess in a way i did. i have been active on tumblr but that’s even dried up some lately. you can tell that i’ve been keeping my photographer busy lately with taking my wardrobe pics though. that’s the one thing i do feel good about but i have to credit b for always being accommodating. just in case you are behind on that here are few of the latest i’ve not posted here yet.

now. ok. to recap, we are selling a house, trying (oh how we are trying) to get a house built, i’m photographing our family’s seniors and weddings and trying to keep up with editing, and running around with my fabulous “the jane austin (spelled incorrectly on purpose) book club” girls, all while trying to keep off tea (mostly successful but on occasion not so much). it’s been a quick but fun (minus house stress) summer so far.

if i had a dollar for everytime we have almost given up on building this dang house i could build it with the money i’d have. don’t ever try to build a house on a rocky hilltop. it almost cannot be done with out losing your sanity. we bought this print from etsy because it is literally our land.

if we ever get it built you all have to come. the space you’ll have to stay in gets smaller everyday but we’ll make do some how. once we get it all done i’ll be sure to post all the trials and tribulations we’ve been through or maybe sooner. sooner if i ever find myself up to the task. when you visit you’ll see this print on the wall. it’s the print of a dream and it’s kept us going.

i've been looking at that post way too long when i come here to go through my blogroll. so, i've gotta post something. we recently went to Apalachicola Florida with Lance and Britany and we had a ball. i'm so glad they went. Britany learned to ride a bike while we were there and we road 12 miles the day she learned. i'm hoping we didn't make her never want to ride again. we ate awesome seafood and i was able to get some of that wonderful smoked fish dip i've been dreaming about since we went about 10 years ago. it was still perfect. we also got another bottle of some like it hotter. b almost cried when we ran out.

when we returned i couldn't wait to buy a bike. i just got it and we road bunches this past weekend. now i'm planning a girl trip to Damascus Virginia to ride the Creeper Trail. before i go to far into the future i'm gonna be hiking Honey Creek Loop again this weekend with the same ladies. i'm a busy bee but that's no excuse for leaving my blog hanging. maybe one of these days i won't be so bad about posting.

one last thing. friday night i'm photographing my first wedding of 2011. i can't wait. i don't think i've ever been this ready before a wedding. wish me luck.

A fellow photographer (Kellie Fitzpatrick) who also has a jewelry line contacted me about staging her spring line photos. Turns out it was far too cold to do what we had planned. Kellie had viewed a few of the photos of our house online and she thought we could use it as an alternative. I can’t tell you how touching it is when someone appreciates what you are trying to do with your environment. In our case that something is to just be ourselves and not decorate our space for anyone but us. When you do that and it turns out other people like it, it just makes you endless amounts of happy.

Make sure to go over to the website and see where you can purchase your own Lenny and Eva sentiment cuff and accessories. I know if you check them out you are gonna want one. I just know it.

Oh and one last thing just in case it isn't crystal clear, Kellie took all of these photos. She is fabulous.

We are hell-bent on losing weight. So, we’ve been eating much better and staying active. We decided not to diet but to just eat like a human should. We’ve hiked some but mostly we just head to the basement and work out on our war machines. I’ve lost 5/7ish lbs. Five if you count the weight I refuse to let myself get passed or 7 if you count the actual weight I was really at, a number that I can’t seem to move off my tongue. B has lost 10 lbs. Men, it’s not fair. The good thing is that I have lost the least favorite of my two chins and so has B. It wasn’t a resolution for me. I was just finally in that mind space where it just came natural to do it. I really cannot do it any other way. If I need to lose I just wait for my mind to get right. I cannot seem to force it.

In other news we went to Chattanooga yesterday. We went vinyl shopping. I bought some soundtracks including one from All in the Family. It blows my mind how funny that show is. Even listening to it made me laugh out loud. We ate at an awesome restaurant and scouted around a furniture shop. I found a dream sofa (second to last photo) if you don’t count this one. The leather one is one we have been strongly considering for our new house. I’ve never been a fan of leather, in fact I’m sure I’ve said, “not in my house” but if you sit on it your kind of sold. It is amazing.

I also love this chair.

I cannot believe it but I think I’m caught up. I got so far behind I just stopped blogging because it just seemed like it would be too large a task. Glad it’s all out there now. I can move forward and stop looking back. Yep.

we celebrated 10 yrs

Our anniversary was Jan 9th and it was 10 years that seem like a lot less. I cannot imagine having a better person to share my life with. He is really like my right arm or maybe my whole right side. We spent the weekend in Nashville. We stayed in a condo at Icon in the Gulch. We had a nice dinner, shopped at Urban Outfitters (my fav) and later in the evening we went to see the show at Station Inn. All of this and we never had to start our car. It was all in the intersection of the neighborhood we were in. The next day, the day, we got up and had breakfast at the world famous Loveless Café and then we headed home. It was perfect. I know you all know it but I love my husband.

I have been so busy for months now and I’ve let that get in the way of maintaining this blog. Sorry bout that to anyone who follows but if you look at it from my point of view, I’ve just been busy with being happy and haven’t taken time away from it. I guess I could play catch up. I’ll go slow. I’ve got enough to blog for months. First of all we had my family over for Christmas and as you can see we were a happy bunch.

On the actual day of Christmas we went to my wonderful in-laws.

we went away on sunday and when we got back in the afternoon we had this message on our phone. she will probably never believe they didn't get her message. just so ya know my husband and I are not caretakers of any summer home nor do we stay out getting drunk all the time. we do answer the phone. well, when i say we i really mean bryan. i hate the phone. blah!

The Arrow Ceremony

Sunday we were considering a hiking trip when B got this wonderful idea to do the arrow ceremony we used to do years back. Just to get the explanation out of the way here is the page from the book we got it from. I really cannot explain to you what this means when you do it. You really have to experience it for yourself. There is just something about putting a process behind your goals that really give it intention and real meaning. Here is how our day went.

We went to Sonic, split a burrito and bought the big drinks and were about to hit the road to hike. In the process of deciding where we’d hike B thought we should just go to our property in Clay County and just explore a bit. From there, maybe since, when we did the arrow ceremony, we did it there, we decided we should just make the day about that. We went home to get ready for it and we didn’t stop from getting out of the car to walking the yard until we’d picked up enough sticks to make our arrows. We went straight to the office after that and began crafting our sticks into arrows. I put on a couple of albums from our collection. One was Dalla which B calls the Italian Billy Joel and the other was The Fifty Guitars of Tommy Garrett which is Spanish guitar. I chose to paint stripes on my arrows and adorn them with feathers and bits of ripped fabric. I then wrote my goals out on the ripped fabric with marker. B wired miniature toys on his and attached his goals written on paper with rounds and rounds of string.

We drove over to the Butler’s Landing boat ramp and walked the trail down to the water. There happened to be a hole in the ground that we thought would be a good place to contain our fire. We spread the tobacco around the hole leaving the opening to step into and dropped our arrows one by one giving thought to what was written on each one. After much tending we were finally able to burn the arrows away. Here’s a little hint, build a good fire first and then just drop your arrows into it instead of dropping your arrows and trying to build a fire on top of it. We are hoping we don’t forget and make the same mistake again. Even though it took much more work the way we did it, it just felt good to let go of those things I’d written on my death arrows. Mine were simple and just single words. I put 1) cynicism 2) skepticism and 3) selfishness. I just want my next year to focus more on the positive. It’s a trait I’ve lost contact with over the last couple of years and I really want to regress back to the person I was when I thought with only sugar and whipped cream. I don’t see how that wouldn’t be a good thing.

Next we drove up to our property and walked the road back to the back of Seven Sister’s Bluffs where the road had cut through and the back of the bluffs had been terraced off for that. We actually found bits of the pavement from the old road that was once actually part of the current road that our property is on. We walked the surface where the old road had been until that ran out and then climbed to the top of about the 3rd tier of the terraced rocks. We made a mound on the very edge of our little cliff out of rocks that were laying around, trying to be sure we would be able to see it from the road when we climbed back down. B spread the rest of the tobacco around it and one by one we placed the arrows into the mound remembering the 3 things each we had decided would be good to bring into our lives. Mine were 1) more freedom in my working life 2) more passion in my personal life and 3) more adventure in my daily life. Then we filled in the cracks of all the rocks using bits of gravel lying about just to make sure the arrows were secure. We found a space to lie down under a tree a few feet away and contemplated our combined 6 little wishes we had just released to the universe. B said that the one with batman on it was a wish for the house we want to build just across the way. He said, “You probably don’t know it but Batman always wins. Aliens vs. Batman, Batman always wins, Superman vs. Batman, Batman always wins. It doesn’t matter. Anything vs. Batman and Batman always wins.” I love that he put Batman in charge our biggest plans. I think that was a wise decision. We both kept a rock we found while the ceremony was in progress to keep with us to remind us of the plans we set into motion.

Just so you know, we could see the mound and arrows from the bottom. So, every time we pass that way it will be there reminding us. Driving back home I asked B if he felt a real sense of calm and he said yeah. I did. It felt like I was floating on a cloud of warm cuddly cushiness and he said he felt like he could just breath much deeper. I know we will be making this an annual thing again. I can’t believe we ever stopped.

i told my friend luke a while back that some day i wanted to record him telling some of his great stories. he agreed to do it then but this has been the only opportunity i've had to get him on tape. he has lots more stories, so hopefully this is not the last video. don't mind the crazy way everyone is dressed. we had all dressed as movie characters earlier for a party and some of us were still in costume.

I have a flickr group for posting the videos and I blog the videos from the group. I hope it takes off because it could really be a fun project if it does. b bought me a new phone/the bluffs

I’m not much for talking on the phone. When we went into Verizon I told our dude TJ that and also that I am more interested in the camera on the phone than anything and that I don’t need internet because we already pay more for my phone than I use it. He turned me on to the Octane and I’m really digging it. I climbed to the top of the Seven Sister’s Bluffs with B today and took a bunch of photos with it. It has a panorama feature and it is awesome.
Now, about Seven Sisters Bluff - Abraham Lincoln's half second cousin mined saltpeter in the caves of the bluffs. There is a view like you cannot believe from the top.
Another thing is if you look at that last photo you can see a little inlet right after the bend on the right side of the river and that is the ramp (Butler’s Landing) where we put our boat in on the river. The other thing is when you turn around standing on the spot where this photo was taken and you are looking directly at our property. That farm land across the river is our view. We can’t see the river because of the bluffs but we can see everything on the other side of it. Okay, one last thing is that once we have moved there I expect everyone of you people that I’ve been internet friends to come and stay with me. That means you Michael Bains, Jan (& John), Jami, Alexa, & Michael Hansen and when and if you take me up on that we are climbing to the top of the bluffs. Don’t worry, we’ll just go to where it starts to slope up and climb the hill. It’s not like mountain climbing. It’s totally doable.

last weekend was the smokies trip and although i really don't like that place, having 4 whole days with the little girl love of my life was yummy. as you can see the ferd even joined us for a day. i tell ya that boy has fallen just as hard for the ken as me and the b. she loves him too but after this weekend she has become a full on brittany (lance's new girlfriend) fan. lance is so jealous.

I thought I would do a remix post of what I've worn lately. I don't always do a photo but these are a few from some of the days I actually remembered to get a shot. I hate Fall after the leaves drop but I love layering up. I normally like at least five articles of clothes in one outfit when it’s cold. It feels more like me. Guess you might notice that the last photo has one of my etsy shop aprons. I shut it down. Even though I'm not selling anything I don't have time for it. If you want to be successful on etsy you have to keep your store stocked with new stuff all the time and I just can’t see myself being disciplined enough to do that right now. When I've got lots of photo shoots lined up it's hard enough to keep up with two jobs. Maybe when I can focus fully on just photography I might have more free time to do other things but just not right now. I'm gonna enjoy the aprons I made for the shop so it's not all bad. I also could not bear the thought of sending out quote pillows from my collection. They just seem like a family and I've grown accustom to them all on my couch.

I am not neglecting you on purpose. I really have been busy. With the taking photos, editing photos and making sure everyone gets their photos in a just a few days after the shoot, let's not forget the day job, I just cannot keep up. Besides my boys keeping me up to date on what's happening on the interwebs I've been to NC (i blogged you that though), Georgia and then this weekend I'm going to the Smokies.

Halloween was the best at our house. We had the whole family over. Kenlee and Laney went trick-or-treating with most of the family following along. We stayed out in the yard all night to give away candy and watch movies that B projected on the house. We saw part of Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas and Monsters vs. Aliens. I think everyone that visited that night loved it. I had just taken photos of my brothers family and they had my camera all night looking at their photos. I had not gotten around to taking them off so I didn't get a single photo of the night but it was a great night.

I’ll be sure to take photos with my new lens and visit you as soon as I can.

the perfect trip

We took our weekend to the mountains and stayed till Tuesday. I know it’s hard for anyone to believe who has read this blog for a long time but we stayed the whole booking. We almost always come back early but it was like being at home and we both enjoyed every single minute we were gone. We stayed on an organic farm in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina bordering Virginia. We got up early Sunday to go zipline here and we love love loved it. We cooked a few times, had a few fires in the wood stove and more than a few dips in the hot tub. Here are a few photos from the trip along with a little roadtrip video that includes lots of bad singing. We were trying to capture some of what we do in the car and singing is part of that. I put in all the takes even though we were only trying for one just cause it gives you a little more of who we are (bad singers).

I forgot to tell you that we found hats everywhere we went and started to pick them up. We ended up with three of what I like to call “roadkill hats.” We washed them and did a little photo of our lot for ya.

Last Thursday was my 44th birthday and it was a beautiful day. The day started out with a happy b-day from B and checking facebook to find all my friends already wishing me a good day. That is one thing about facebook, it can really make you feel special on your day. I tried to thank everyone in an individual message. I wanted to be nice since they were all making my day so magical. At work we all went out to lunch for my birthday and shared the birthday dessert and Lance bought my lunch. He showed up to surprise me but since I already had plans he just went along.

In the evening we went to dinner with Matt and Autumn and she got me a gift I’d be coveting from etsy cause she’s a pimp like that. Saturday my friend Kathy took me to lunch and B’s parents took me to dinner that night. As you can see, I got my eat on and that is also part of the reason for the puffier checks I’m so ready to get rid of. I cannot imagine how my birthday could have been any better. Sky even managed to tell me happy birthday and that is a feat unto itself.

Thought I’d post a few of my latest remix submissions. I’m trying better to document. It’s easier since B works from home. I can just hand him the camera and not worry with dragging out a tripod. I cut my face out of a couple cause I think sometimes my old face takes away from the outfit. Maybe once I’m through with my tri-luma I won’t have so many dark spots on my face and I might not look so old. I’m not trying to win sympathy, I know I look young for my age. I just know that people have stopped telling me I look like I’m in my twenties and moved on to the thirties and I’m still getting used to that. I actually heard B singing a Ronnie Milsap song while I was getting ready a few mornings ago. I’m the one who roams around the house singing songs my grandparents loved. I think he’s trying to steal my act. And, yesterday he actually used real estate in a sentence and not in the context of property, something I do all the time. example: “You need a lot of real estate up there for bangs to look good.” It makes me so happy when I hear him say something I know I rooted in there like a weed you can’t get rid of.
We’ve had this long history of always saying the same thing at the same time. Once we were conversing via messenger and every time I typed something and hit send I’d looked up and see he’d wrote the same thing at the same time. I said, “you typed the same thing I did” and looked up and he typed that too. So, then I typed “shit” and looked up and you know it, he did too.

I’ve been reading this book and the title sounds so lofty and full of it’s self but it’s really not at all.The steps are not the sort of steps you’d think. It’s like 12 little prompts to think on throughout the day. You practice each step for a day or week. He doesn’t get to what you might learn from it. He leaves that up to you. I’m most of the way through it but there has been one step that stood out to me more than the others, well at this point anyway. I don’t have the book by me right now but one was about slowing down. It asks you to not speed or get in a hurry. I have adopted this one as a new way of life. I can’t tell you the change it has made in me but of course I’m gonna try.

Every time I’ve felt the need to speed or rush myself I’ve stopped and I actually found out a few things about myself in doing so. I realized that the character I am when I speed or rush to get somewhere wasn’t really me. It was a role I had assigned myself for no real reason. I realized by not hurrying in the car, that most of the time when I’m flying around town in a hurry, I really have no reason for it. I had just gotten caught up in a role I believed about myself and that was that where ever I go I need to get there the quickest way, in my case it’s usually constant lane changes. I did it for absolutely no reason at all. It wasn’t like I did it because I’m always late. I just always did it. I asked B if he does that too and he said 80% of the time. I asked him why and he gave me a half assed attempt at an answer and to ever reason he gave me I asked him “but why” about it. In the end after about 10 “but why’s” he got my point. There really is no need. So we arrive 10 seconds to 10 minutes quicker and maybe even endanger a few lives to do so. Does that amount of time really make a lot of difference.

The other thing I got from it is that all the time I spend rushing I’ve really thrown away because if all I do is rush I am never here in this present moment. My mind is on where I’m going and how fast I can get there. If I pull myself back into my head and back away from thinking about the next destination, I actually have all the time in the world that is really available to me and that is this single moment in time.

Yesterday we took Kenlee to Amazing Acres and it had to be the best thing we ever did with her. We tried out our new camera and as you will see we are not experts on it yet. I do want to point out one thing you’ll see. Kenlee hates (yes that is a strong word but the proper one) when Bryan (most anyone really) pretends to be something they are not. With B she usually throws him an elbow (we call it a porkchop) with a “stop it”. He gets at least three stop it’s in the course of this video. They aren’t completely captured by the lens but you will still get it. I’m gonna post some photos but I haven’t got to taking them off the camera yet. Maybe later today.

Jenny and Johnny

We did make it out to see Jenny and Johnny when they were in Nashville at Mercy Lounge. It was last Saturday night and it was a long night. We waited 3 hours just to see them while being pacified by other singers whose names never made it to my ears. The sound was horrible. At one point my friend Amanda pointed to her watch and said, "if they're not on by 11:15 let's leave". Luckily they made it just in time. I was with her though. I was completely sick of waiting. It was well worth the wait even though we could hardly hear Jenny's vocals. And Jan, I'm 'bout to disappoint. They would not let us take photos unless it was on a cell phone. I ended up taking my camera back to the car so that it didn't add to the weight of my already heavy bag.

I took B along almost kickin' and screamin'. He listened to Jenny Lewis Rabbit Fur Coat the week before and he said, get this, "she sounds like Jewel." I cringed. Can you believe that. The point to this bit is that after seeing them he is in love. He came straight home and downloaded the album and has been waltzing around the house singing Scissor Runner. I love a happy ending. Would I do it again and sit through 3 hours of agony? Y-E-S I would.

There they are. Johnny was much cuter than I had pictured and Jenny was everything we all think she is. Johnny has a real James Deanish way of talking. The way he speaks has a hip rocker sort of rhythm to it. Both me and the B found it very endearing.

Here I am with Amanda and this is not flattering of either one of us. I assure you that we are much more fabulous in person. My head is not that huge in real life.Well, not in physical size anyway.

she's shoutin' bout this video. I started to watch it and immediately I think, "yeah, so what's the big deal?" Oh, it is a big deal and I'm totally pissed that I didn't think of it first. In my mind I want to be a performer but I'm always to busy sitting on my ass to actually learn a skill I can perform. Then, I watch this and man, was I bummed when I saw you could perform and still sit on your ass. Since I'm only a performer in my mind I'm gonna pretend this is me. I can't help but introduce it like The Radio Station Man in Oh Brother Where Art Thou?. Think of his voice saying this, "Folks, here's my cousin Ezra's niece, Eudora from out of Greenwood, doin' a little number with her cousin Tom-Tom, which I predict you gonna enjoy thoroughly."

These are a few of my favorite photos from my first ever pregnancy shoot. Lauren really knew what she wanted and that was so helpful. It’s not often you do a photo shoot when you know beforehand what sort of photos the client wants. I wish this was always the case. Every time I do a shoot I worry and worry that I missed a shot that someone might have wanted. It gives me a little more peace of mind when someone has a clear idea of what they expect to see when I hand over their disc of photos. Don’t get me wrong, I still worry myself crazy but I feel a little more at ease. These two were so easy to work with. I hope they love their photos. I know Lauren looks amazing and it’s no thanks to my handy work. I think she is just naturally adorable. Landon is not too shabby either. I think little Layna will have to be a beauty.

my near black eyes. i normally wear gray contacts. i love my eye color but i look better with less makeup if my eyes are not so devilish black. the gray makes me look a lot sweeter than i really am and that is not sweet at all. i did a touched up version of this photo to get rid of all the brown spots and then i decided to not only be true to my eye color but also to my age. check out the gray hair. i still haven’t broke down on the coloring thing. my cousin’s husband, Zane, told me if i’d color it i might get 8 more years back. i told him people already think i’m 8 years younger without the color. i know that sounds very full of myself but it was all i could come back with and it felt like i should comeback because he just told me i need to color my hair. he is right i might should color it and people might think i’m 16 years younger. i know that’s not true but it’s a nice thought.

speaking of age. me and the b plan to go see jenny lewis when she plays the mercy lounge in nashville. it’s part of the jenny and johnny tour she is doing with her boyfriend. b said we are to old to go to that show and i told him we’d be the hippest old people there. doesn’t he know that’s how you get old, by acting it? i’m not ready for old, not yet.

I thought I’d be bored and ready to go long before I was. you might have missed my introducing the drunken preacher and that is something you should not miss. listen with an open mind and a empty mouth so as not to do a spit take in the middle of this 4+ minutes.

my story behind this is a friend of mine back in the day had a roommate that collected little tidbits like this. the roommate made him a copy and he made us (meaning me and a former boyfriend) a copy. when the romance was over with the former boyfriend it was in my possession and therefore making me the sole owner. years later, and i mean years later, as in enough time that i had memorized the entire recording, a friend’s husband asked to borrow it. i gave it up very reluctantly with his solemn promise to return it once he had paraded it around to his peeps. you know how this ends. never ever ever nerver evaneva saw it again. thanks rob bajar. i have spent at least the last 14 years searching for it. when it pops in my head i do a google and youtube search and finally after all these years i found it. b had heard me quote it our whole relationship and he finally got to hear it. of course he loved it. had him really laughing out loud. not the internet lol kind but the for real have to spell the whole words kind. hope you love it.
can’t resist this little video. i must always say my never evers like this. it somehow reinforces it.

Robert was the guy who cleaned up after us all. He was always happy. I remember one day he called in sick when I was working in the office and he said, "I won't be in today Ton-ya (he said my name like the first syllable was ton) cause I'm pukin' and throwin' up too." I said, "Gosh Robert that sounds bad," without correcting that he probably meant that he had vomiting and diarrhea.

When he was sweeping by me one day I noticed he was wearing a vintage shirt from the 70's. It had the wide collar and was brown with small white polka dots. I loved it. I told him I loved it. The next day it was mine. He just came in and handed it over. He said, I don't care a thing about this old shirt and a person that loves like you do ought to have it. I wore that shirt for years but a some point I must have gotten rid of it. I wish I still had it.

He left his reading glasses in the pocket of his wife Virgie's (she worked there too) sewing machine so she could use them to thread her needle. When all the equipment sold because the place closed I found those glasses and I still have them.

i went back in time to find a photo from when i first started blogging and one where i was hiking cause it’s getting time for me to kick start that season

i think i finally figured out why we all love blogs so much, at least, i know it’s why i do. you know how everyday we pass people that we will never know and their life is something of another world that doesn’t weigh into ours. reading a blog takes that wall down. suddenly those strangers go home, go to work, love, cry, have good days and bad and later they share it all with us. we get to see that part that makes them more than one dimension and we connect with that. i guess that is why we all have some blogs we love more than others. i tend to love the ones that are personal blogs and i will read them first off my blogroll and then i will go back and pull up the ones that are visual and probably not even read the post but only look at the amazing photos. glimpses in someone’s life lets me feel like i’m reading a storybook as the story is happening. i do prefer photos to go with the personal stories because the real story doesn’t come through without them. those blogs i will read where a thing like apartment therapy i will flip through for inspiration but never read. i get attached to the characters in these stories, root for them and find that i might even be sad if they decide to stop sharing. guess my whole point here is to say if you are on my blogroll over there on the left and you are telling your story i’m listening and have probably mentally started to include you in what i feel like is part of my family. oh and, i love blogs. i love ‘em.

My brain has been on overdrive lately but it’s a shift I can totally stand. For some reason it feels like I am just reveling in peace and I love when that happens. I get up and go to work with my music blaring and it feels like I’m surfing a wave of satin all the way there. I go home in the evening the back way so that I get a little bit of the scenic country side with my music blaring again, the windows are down and I feel like I’m on a mellowed out slow motion rollercoaster. Lately at lunch I’ve been sneaking over to the park for lunch. A couple of those days some of the girls I work with have joined me. We ate and laughed our laughs up into the trees and walked the trails until we knew we had to go. One day I went alone and I sat and marveled at the amazing breeze we’ve been having blowing against my skin as if someone where lightly brushing rabbit fur across my my bare arms. Life is beautiful to the point I’m afraid to say that out loud.

I got an email from Mpix that said they were about to dump my galleries if I didn’t make a purchase by yesterday so I decided to do a really random printing of some of my photos. They had gallery wraps on sale (25% off) till Wedsday night so I had the one of the mannequin in the tiger mask wrapped (taken in Cavy City KY) and I can’t wait to see this crazy thing. The top one is a screen shot from the french movie “the red balloon.“ When I say screen shot I literally mean it. I sat in front of the TV set snapping photos with my camera to get it. The second one is inside Forbus store in Fentress County and the third one is inside a home at Rugby. I had some others printed that I took in Chattanooga too but I did those at Snapfish straight out of my flickr account. I am so excited to open this package. Some of those photos were taken years ago and this is the first time I will get to see them in print.

I cannot brag enough on Mpix. They really do a fantastic job. They are quick, the color is amazing and they have sales all of the time. If you make an account there you can get in all the deals, just sayin’.

4 simple goals

For the last few days you might have noticed the tiny banner on the sidebar that says 4 simple goals. I’m playing along with Elsie’s evil/sweet plan of setting 4 simple goals to accomplish before the end of the year. I finally sat down this morning and got with the program. Here’s my little list of little goals.
1 actually do all of the projects in an online craft class that i take. i just think i should do this one time since i tend to take classes online endlessly and never complete them. this one might be a little cheatie but it is an important one to me and it sets a time limit that might make me stay focused.

2 ~~see~~ ~~this exhibit at the Frist~~ completed 8-21-10
3 find a way to feel more energetic. maybe exercise more regularly with my zumba videos
4 make this an exciting fall by turning it into an adventure

Let’s take this experiment on the water and see if she floats shall we?

We had a yardsale months back. We had a tub full of baby toys we needed to get rid of but we had decided that we might need them for grandchildren one day, so we didn’t put them out to sell. At one point we had half a dozen or so children in the yard and one of the little girls asked if we had toys. I told B to go get the tub.

We put them out in the yard and told the children they were free. Moments later I looked down and a little girl had Kenlee’s Boo doll in her hands. We had no idea it was in the box.

We bought the doll on the rollercoaster yardsale for her before she was born for a quarter.

Now I’ll be honest and say that if the little girl had been white I probably would have felt no guilt taking it from her but because she wasn’t my white guilt kicked in and I let her take it even though I almost wanted to cry.

Boo talks and one of the things she says is “kitty” and when she says it, it sounds like “Kenlee.” Naturally Kenlee has a softspot for a doll that can say hear name. We hoped she’d never miss her but as luck would have it she did.

She has recently really gotten into watching, as she calls it, Monsters, Binc. and when she watches it she wants her doll. We just kept telling her, “let’s watch the movie now and we will find it later.” We tried to buy it online but you try that one. It’s either $200.+ for one in the box or no less than $45 for the crapity crap one.

While I was out with Amanda on the yardsale trip we stopped in a vintage toy store and as I waited on Amanda it finally occurred to me to ask about Boo and the lady had one for $8.75 which I was ecstatic to pay. I took her home, cleaned her, set her on the toy shelf in our office, Kenlee found her and we acted like we had no idea how she got there.

You wouldn’t believe how happy me and B were to find this doll. A couple of more times of her asking and we probably would have paid any price. Life is beautiful again.

a tiny bit of the 127 yardsale

we started out early, it was beautiful and at this point the heat was not that bad either.here is my lap of essentials at the start of the day. you can see my fabulous bag in the floor, bought from B’s parents jewelry & gift shop. i had to lie and say it was for someone else because they will never let me pay for anything and i feel guilty for finding something i want in there. you can also see my favorite shoes in the floor. they are gray flip-flops from old navy. the sunglasses are my favs and you can find them for $5 at Wal-Mart. there’s the wallet i paid $50 for at TJ Max. it is absolute perfection even though i never pay that much for wallets nor will i probably ever again. it does exactly what i need it to do and that makes it worth the money. you can also see some extra lens for my camera and my camera is in the lap too but maybe further up. the last thing I want to point out is the bloomers. i have taken to making myself bloomers and i had a vision in my head the day before the yardsale of a pair of gray polka dot ones. i stopped off at Hancock's and a few hours later i had a pair whipped up just in time to wear the next day. these things are practically one size fits all. i make them really big. i like them to have the feel of a skirt without the requirement of having to watch how i sit so that i don’t show off the business.this is my reflection so that you can see the other end too.i’m showing you that last photo so that you can see the salon chair i bought for $45. i tried to look it up online to see what it is worth but i can’t find a single chair like it. however you all know that if i were in the market to sell it i could probably get of $200+ on ebay. it looks bad here but i’ve already sanded all the rust off and i gave it a good cleaning. i must post a photo of it all cleaned up.i took a photo of this batman painting because it was so awesome. we didn’t buy it for the $95 price tag but i wanted to show it to you anyway. it said on the tag it was painted in the 60’s. that sounded right to me.i took this photo because my brother joey had this monkey when he was little. i wanted to be able to show it to him as a reminder.here is one more way to enjoy the 127 yardsale and i think he might be on to something. moments after this shot he wadded into the water and i know that must have felt good. it was frickin’ hot that day.

you are probably waiting on a photo of jason but he wasn’t there that day so i didn’t get this years annual shot. it made me sad. really it kind of ruined it for me. i don’t like change.

here’s one last photo. i think it was my photo of the day. I spent:
$45 for the salon chair
$8 for 2 toddler size eames style chairs – one red, one turquoise
$5 for a large child size turquoise eames style chair
$5 for two large pieces of vintage fabric
$45 for a large vintage tricycle (talked down from $65)
$4 for a bag of toys and a large spiderman action figure for kenlee (talked down from $5)
$25 for a bag of beautiful vintage quilt squares (1/2 off her tag price)
$8.75 for a new Boo doll (there’s a story there i must tell later)
all for the grand total of $145.75 and they were the best buys of my 127 history. my limit was $150 and as you can see i kept it this year.

guess who’s home

Lance told me weeks ago that he had been offered a chance to stay in Iraq 3 more months and that he had taken it. All the moms on facebook were talking about how great it was to have their sons home and I wanted to scratch their eyes out. A couple of Sundays ago I had gone to the movies with B and when we got back home Sky said, “I have a friend over you haven’t met yet, you should come in here and meet him.” I went into the kitchen to meet this joker Sky was telling me about but instead I saw Lance. I cried on the spot. The absolute best surprise ever and it will never be duplicated. Everyone asked me wasn’t I mad at him for lying but that’s the last thing on my mind. It was fabulous and we are all so glad he is here.

Jo is not even her real name. Her real name is Elwanda Lois. She loved that I called her that sometimes when I was feeling particularly playful. Every item in her wardrobe is polyester. She always saved all of her money and put it in the bank. At one time she had so much money in one bank that she was up to the limit they would insure and she had to open up another account somewhere else. Granddaddy died being the only person she ever told how much money she had. He never would tell us. I admired him for that.

She walked everywhere, probably still does. She is a diabetic and she said the walking was good to keep the swelling down in her legs. One of the moments I saw her the happiest was when she found a baking potato in the ditch on the way to work(crazy huh). She said, "that's what I'm gonna have for dinner tonight." She just loved that she was getting a free meal. That was just more money she could save. She did take some of her money and paid cash for a house and new Oldsmobile. Iva Lee swore she only bought the Oldsmobile because she had one. That could be so because Jo would often remind us behind Iva Lee's back that her car was a newer model.

someone, can't remember who, called me out on the fact that i had not posted a photo of me and b at the wedding in our matching outfits. so...

this does not show the whole thing but he was wearing navy pants that matched my dress stripes and if you could see a close up of his shirt you would see it was textured with the same size stripe as my dress and then there is the yellow bow tie to match my yellow piping. we weren't perfect matches but we were satisfied with it.

We now have a photobooth available that is perfect for all occasions. This is the most entertainment you can have in a group of people. We had a ball and can't wait to do this again. I can't believe the response we have gotten from only doing this one time. We had some issues on our first run but we are working those out. That is one reason that we chose to do this for someone we know well and to not charge them in exchange for letting us do our trial run. We are just so pleased and thankful that it was such a hit.

Iva Lee worked on the pocket setting line. She came to us from the old shirt factory after it shut down. We were the building next door. She was mad fast and never failed to make her production numbers.

One time she told the mechanic that her thread was breaking and it was making her big toe hurt. It was a story told over and over. Thread breaking was a common problem with single needle work and it usually did call for a little work from the mechanic but I'm not sure how that could make your big toe hurt.

Iva Lee wore the same blouse everyday accept on Friday's. Not the same, same but the same. She made all of her blouses from the same pattern. I wondered after years of seeing that same blouse everyday if she could make it without the pattern by now. The blouse was always printed and her pants were always a solid color that matched the print. The blouse was perfect for her shape, so I'm sure that's why she stuck with it.

Iva Lee always worked by Jo who also made the old shirt factory transition to us. They fought everyday. Iva Lee always refereed to Jo as "that old thing". There were always degrees to their dislike. Sometimes the disputes were small and some days they could not get along at all. On one of the days they couldn't get along at all Granddaddy separated them. They were no longer working side by side. It only lasted a few days and Iva Lee claimed an odd ailment that required her to be moved back to her old spot. It was not Jo she longed for according to her but her spot; she needed her old spot back.

There was the one time that Iva Lee declared, "let's take it outside." We all ran to the office to watch from the window. There was a lot of nose to nose yelling and Iva Lee pointing at her nose as if to signal Jo to take the first blow. Jo rared back with her arm and came towards Iva Lee's face but just before making contact she slowed her arm and came down with her fingers on Iva Lee's nose, giving it a little twist. That was the end. They came back in and it was calm for a long time after that. When we'd talk about how much better they were getting along Jo would always say, "she's left me alone since I twisted that nose for her."

I’ve been hard at work on big project that I’m unveiling at a wedding I’m photographing on Saturday. No matter how close I get to completion I’m afraid something is gonna go wrong. Oh damn, I just found a pocket in the side of this dress I'm wearing. Didn't know that was there. Anyway, I can’t wait to tell you about it. Maybe I’ll tell you right before I leave and then I’ll show you the result when I get back home. I can’t remember being this excited about a project in a great while.

I’m also doing a photo shoot with my little friend JP this afternoon and I think she’s bringing a friend. It should be fun. Maybe you remember my last shoot with her. Here’s a couple of photos from that one.

My granddaddy owned a factory where hundreds of thousands of polyester pants were made for KMart in the 80's and 90's. Everyone loved working there. We all still miss it and wish for the time back. It was like a family. We had dinners to celebrate every little milestone in all of our lives. We celebrated all the babies being born into our families, all the weddings, birthdays and holidays. We all knew Iva Lee would bring whatever dish covered in old, crusty, used aluminum foil and we never ate whatever it was she brought. It was a simple time and we didn't know at the time how we would miss all of it when we could no longer get a contract because all the work had gone across the border.

This photo is of me and Rebecca (the little girl (who is now 17) of a long time employee) we were opening up her birthday presents on the job.
Check out the acid wash on that shirt and that cabinet in the background. That cabinet is in my basement now - this is it with the doors removed. Many cups of coffee were brewed on the top of that cabinet and it was built by a man named Warren who worked there. My nickname for him was Worn Out. This is the first post of a series of post about the factory.

Now in present time. For the next several weeks I will be going back to my old blog that has been disabled and pulling post from the factory series until I have reposted them all. After that not sure where I'll be going with this but I'm gonna try for a good while to keep this going as Flashback Friday. Hope you enjoy these old posts.

was mom’s birthday so we all took her out to eat at the place of her choosing. as we were about to leave there B got a twitter post on his phone from the shawn camp peeps and it turns out that he was playing at the station inn in nashville @ 9:00. so, we pulled straight out of Logan’s parking lot towards nashville.

he did a lot of new stuff and proved that no one does a shawn camp song like he can.

all I can say is josh turner sure knows the way to ruin a good song. i have never heard anyone that sounds that boring and soulless. the world just isn’t fair when one of those two men has a record deal and it’s not the right one.

i can’t believe i’ve never shared this on here but there is a fabulous radio station out of knoxville that you all need to tune into. it’s called WDVX. it’s listener supported so you don’t have to wade through all the mainstream crap that’s out there. they play the music we all want to hear including shawn camp. b has an ap on his phone that allows us to listen to wdvx in the car so it might be a possibility for you too. still yet you can listen online and i’m sure you’ll be amazed. a few years back me and b went out to the fox inn campground to visit the station back before it moved from clinton to knoxville and we got to meet the lady that we call “grace here witcha.” you’ll definitely get it when you listen, pretty self explanatory though.

We went to Butler’s Landing boat ramp after work today with the Kayak. We only have the one so we take turns. While one paddles the other sits by the water and reads. I took a little tour down Dry Mill Creek while B chose Wet Mill. They both V off the Cumberland. At one point I saw a snake’s head fly across the water that looked as big as both my hands if I interlaced my fingers. When he got close to the bank he kind of seemed to jump up in the water and made a big splash at that point this old girl retreated in the other direction with a bit of what you might call urgency. In other words I got my ass out of there fast. I didn’t like the thought that a big snake like that could jump enough to make a big splash while here I am in such a shallow and narrow type boat. It was, other than that, a perfect trip. Well, see for yourself. Come take a little ride with me and my headphones.

This video was taken by putting my point and shoot on video and holding it under my chin. I didn’t know exactly what I was capturing. The best part is that the camera was near enough to my headphones that you get to hear the same thing I was hearing while I paddled. That song you are hearing is this song and it’s absolute perfection.

Funny thing is before B even mentioned the river to me today I was already at work on a playlist just for that. I didn’t use it but you might want to sometime. It’s a little mixed up like I like my music. I thought about keeping the same groove or even going with an all water/river/flowing theme but decided to do my usual and throw in some surprises. Also, I couldn’t find most of these songs on a playlist website so I had to improvise buy using iMix. Hope you like it.

I had to have a river mix because when we move we will only have to leave this boat ramp and go about 2/10 of a mile, turn right, go about 1/10 of a mile, turn left, about 2/10 more and our driveway will be on the left. In other words, we are in walking distance. Yay us.

Here's a bit of randomness that you might not know about little old me.

My middle name is Kim and writing just K when I fill something out leaves me anxious because I'm afraid people will think it's the ever so cliche middle name Kay. Could you imagine Tonya Kay. I was often accused of having 2 first names but that is fine, better Kim than Kay. Sorry if Kay is your middle name.

When me and B are both leaving home at the same time in two separate cars I like to leave first. I know the past is the past but I still have abandonment issues from childhood and it just feels better if he doesn't leave me. He humors me cause he is special that way.

I've never slept well in all my life. I used to get up in the middle of the night when I was 7 and go to the window and watch the lights from the radio tower hoping to make myself sleepy. That's the earliest I remember. I can sleep endlessly if I'm on the couch or in the car but not really in the bed. And if I need to nap during the day because I'm gonna be up late I cannot call it a nap. I have to watch TV and not think about it. I'm like the toddler you have to spell nap in front of.

My granddaddy taught me to slow dance standing on his toes when I was 8 or 9 years old. I thought it was the greatest thing in the world. My grandparents always went dancing (they were amazing dancers) every weekend at the American Legion and they took me with them.

I was once contacted by HGTV to follow me on the 127 Yardsale. I said no because it was out of my route and they weren't paying for anything unless they chose to air my segment and I thought I might look like a jackass. They contacted me because I used to do a big blog on it every year. The past couple of years I've only blogged photos. The thing that made the post interesting was that I visited the same people every year and they wanted me to start in Ohio and end long before I got close to my known territory. I decided that rather than spend my money on gas and a hotel room on the chance I'd get on, I rather keep my money to spend at the yardsale.

Here is Jason who has a tent every year at the yardsale. Every year I take his photo. Every year he poses for me. And every year I have to photoshop a rebel flag off his hat and sometimes his shirt.

I wrote about a famous singer in my book and when he found out about it he got a little miffed and he emailed me to death. I sent him my sales to prove to him no one was reading my book. In the end he wanted to know if we ever slept together and that proved he didn't even read the whole book. He did say that even though he could not remember the incidents in the book he knew the things I attributed to him were true because he recognized the things I said he said as things he used to say. The sad thing is that I wrote about how talks with him and sent me soul searching and had completely changed my life. Anyone with less ego would have found it endearing. People on his website blew it up about how awful I was, he threatened to sue me on his forum to his fans. Even after we made nice and he later asked his legions to stop talking about it because he knew there was no bad intent, I never said a word here but now ya know. And that my friends is how you use LEGION twice in one post. You didn't know it was possible but I showed you it was. I was so furious with him then and I couldn't listen to his music (some of my favorite CD's) for a few years. Then I realized he was human. Even though his life changing words were monumental to me and he was fallible just like ever other breathing bleeding person. I cut him some slack and now he's back in the rotation. In case you are wondering, I didn't sleep with him. And yes I still have all the emails just in case dust ever kicks up again.

I once won 1st runner up in a talent show for buck dancing with my brother Joey. I think I was in 2nd grade. Ok now stop laughin'. It ain't funny ya'll. Yep that's how I spell ya'll and I refuse to change.

I'm a bad interrupter. I don't mean to be but I don't have a booming loud voice and I get talked over and if I had money for everytime I've said something in my life that no one heard I'd be richie rich. I think that is the origin of my interrupting. I just butt in while someone else has the attention because my voice doesn't draw attention. Elderly people with poor hearing and I can forget about it. They will never hear me. I'm louder with my family and people I'm around a lot. Once I get to know you better I'm am louder.

When I was in 2nd grade in Celina the school was sending scarp fabric leftover at Osh Kosh home with the poorer children and they gave me a stash. I took it home to my mom and she was afraid I told them we were poor but I didn't I couldn't imagine why they gave it to me. I thought it was a mistake or that they just had so much they were giving out extra. My mom had me and Joey picking up returnable soda bottles on the sides of the road to go buy her cigarettes and I still didn't think we were poor. I don't think I've ever felt poor in my life. I've felt undervalued but I've always felt like I had more than I could ever need.

When I was a child I thought the moon followed me.

I didn't talk at all until I was way passed 2 but when I did I spoke in full sentences. My grandparents said I came to their house one weekend not saying anything and the next weekend we came back and I walked in and said, "hey grandmother and granddaddy, watcha been doin'." I like to think I was saving up until I had absorbed it all.

I have never ever ever caved to peer pressure. In my whole life I never cared what the hell anyone else was doing or if they thought I was odd. Here's one for ya, my grandparents were at that 16th birthday party by my request. I didn't drink until I was old enough to buy it myself and I still don't much. I have never smoked marijuana or for that matter even touched it to pass. I don't care who smokes it or how much they smoke I just have never felt the need and at almost 44 I don't think there is a reason to do it now. I only take meds if it's a antibiotic or poison ivy situation. That means I've never tried an illegal drug in my life.

I still love wearing boy clothes. Here I am wearing Joey's clothes and this photo is about the same time we were in the talent show together.

I wore my brother's hand-me-downs until I was school age. I am wearing his clothes in so many photos, none of which were on Easter when my grandparents always bought me something new to wear. My hand-me-down years is where I'm gonna place blame for the fact that I'd rather wear mens jeans and slacks than womens. Examples:

I am wearing men's jeans or slacks in every one of those photos. That last photo is what I plan on wearing when Oprah calls and wants me on her show. I'm not kiddin' either. That's my favorite look.

I was so skinny and long legged as a child girls clothes didn't really fit me. If they were long enough then the straddle hung to my knees and the waist didn't fit or if they fit then they weren't long enough. Most of my clothes were either tailored by my grandparents after purchase or they made them for me. Here I am in 1st grade wearing one of their golden handmade works of art:

I'm gonna let this rest but maybe I won't stop here. I'll just do more lists later. Lance sent me a message today to say that one of his friends wanted to meet me because she is amazed at all I do. I asked him if he told her that I mostly sit on the couch watching TV but when I do get up I make it good. I told him that it all seems more storybook in writing. There is just no way to get your whole self across on a blog but maybe a few real glimpses might help.

I had B to take my photo to show you my shirt. He likes to wiggle the camera when he takes pictures. It's just another layer of the B that I've grown to love.

That Celina High School Football shirt is the oldest article of clothing that I own. It's circa 1982. I invited all my country cousins (said lovingly - cause I downright love them with all my heart) from Pea Ridge to spend the night with me on my 16th birthday and I had all my friends from school come over. I wanted to mix it up because I wanted everyone I knew from school to meet my family that lived several miles away so that they could see just how awesome and funny they all were. I'm talkin' funniest people in the world. It's a natural talent they have. Anything they say is funny but you can't retell it and make it funny because their way of telling is what makes it funny. I might have to blog some of their tales later (won't be as funny) but anyway we all had a blast. My face hurt from laughing.

Here we all were before my school friends showed up:

Back to the shirt. I asked my cousin Jeff to give me his football tee for my birthday and he told me no. You can probably guess that he did end up giving it to me. He said the week before he found a box of new ones in the locker room so he stole one. I said, "but you gave me your old one." He said, "that's the one you asked for."

I keep this shirt because it's cozy as can be but it's from the 80's so it was what we called a shimmy shirt. Which means it comes just down to the bottom of the ribcage and for that reason I never could wear it out anywhere. I'm on this kick, if you haven't noticed, of cutting my shirts and making cute cover ups for some of my less modest clothing. It's a look I just love. This weekend I decided to upcycle the football shirt and now I can wear it anywhere. I just cut a little more off of it and rehemmed it an inch deep and added elastic. It's gonna get a lot of use now.

I’m not sure why I haven’t blogged this yet. I really thought I had.
Dwight Yoakam should have his own planet set high where only the brightest stars shine. He is the most individual talent of his time. You will never mistake anyone for him or him for anyone else. And then there is this:
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t know that silhouette anywhere. He is the most iconic of any entertainer in my lifetime. Forget Elvis. Elvis is dead and I’m pretty certain for the most part, most of us are way over him.
See, here’s what you do. Stop right now, go and find some really good headphones and plug Dwight Yoakam’s version of Suspicious Minds into your brain. You’ve got to do the headphones thing to make this work. Now play it loud as you can stand and let me know at what moment you tear up. Not cause it’s the prettiest song ever or the saddest song ever but because Dwight has that precise amount of soulfulness that cuts straight to your guts. It’s perfection. Elvis is good but he won’t do that for ya.
I have taken the liberty of making a little playlist for ya so you don’t have to. Goodmoanin’.

Just one last note: that drummer must be tired as hell after this song because he completely rocks his ass off. He is beating the shit out of that drum and I love it.

B is Facebook friends with a girl he went to school with. Everyday he reads me her status updates and everyday I am amazed. I’m gonna list a couple of pages of updates with most recent first without any tampering except for spell-check and changing her name. See if you can find a pattern. I had a dream

I feel cheated cause ms cat lovin’, mother scratchin’, Jan over at Cat Day Afternoon beat me to this by posting her dream of Sean Penn but by golly I’m doin’ this post anyway. I still love you Jan, even if you’re leagues ahead of me. You’re my kinda chica.

I really did have a dream. It was the most real and most memorable one I’ve had in a great while. I dreamed that I was riding in a car with B and some of his co-workers that I don’t know (that part isn’t too weird cause I don’t know any of them). We stopped at a gas station and B went in. All the time he was in the store Ashley from work was texting me to call into work because Desmond Tutu was there and wanted to speak to me. I just kept blowing it off until she texted a 3rd time. So, then I called and they put him on the phone. Desmond didn’t have a lot to say but he wanted to thank me for all I’d done. I don’t know what that was because it wasn’t part of the dream. Then, since such a big deal had been made about talking to me, I guess he felt like he needed to make small talk but he was having trouble coming up with anything. He said, “I’m not very good at this maybe you could think of something for us to talk about.” I said, “look dude, technically you called me.” Believe it or not that’s not weird either cause it’s totally something I would say. I don’t really turn on for anyone. I’m always just about as me as I can get all hours of the day. We got off the phone and then I started telling the people in the car about the big spaceship that stayed docked over the movie theater for a couple of weeks and then disappeared. I couldn’t believe they hadn’t seen it but they did say they thought they remembered hearing about it. Losers. And what the hell is B doing in the station all this time? If he was in the bathroom the whole time it couldn’t have been good. Believe me.

I know I’ve heard his name numerous times but for the life of me I couldn’t remember a thing Desmond Tutu had ever done so I had to look him up. He has the longest Wiki page I’ve ever seen. Turns out he’s a pretty awesome guy and he chose to visit me in my dreams. What a sweetheart. Oh and oddly enough we share the same birthday. I love Libras. We are the whores of the zodiac but we also believe strongly in equal rights for all. So, it's all even steven like the scales that represent our sign.

I had a cousin that died very young. I think if I remember right he was 22. His name was Tony Faye Watson. The thing about Tony Faye and that was what we called him, was that he was always happy and he could always make you laugh. I guess when your name is Tony Faye you learn early that people either laugh with you or at you. He wanted us all laughing with him and we did. He used to do this thing where he pull his baggy shorts up as high as he could and dance around the living room. It never failed to get a laugh.

Every time I saw him he’d tell me I ought to come out and see his place. He talked about it like it was a mansion on a hill when in reality it was an apartment built next to his mother-in-law that she had given to he and his wife Opal. B went to high school with him and he told a story about how he told the teacher once that he didn’t need to go to college because he already made enough money working nights at Osh Kosh and he would live just fine.

Why do I feel the need to tell you all this? Because I still don’t think people get that you can be happy right where you are in life. If you set your sights to the future for happiness the target will only keep moving. It’s possible to be happy anytime you make up your mind to be. Tony Faye is a perfect example of this. It took two guest registers to hold the names of the people at his funeral and a whole funeral home for the people who attended. The eulogy had to be broadcast over a loud speaker for those who didn’t fit in the room where his body was set for viewing. He didn’t really have shit as most would see it but he was loved and he was happy until the day he died. He only lived to be 22. He didn’t know that would happen. We don’t always have forever so it’s not good to wait for a reason to be happy.

There are many of these coming. These are the only two that are sleeveless. When I wear mine I have strangers stop me and ask where I got them from. They are just perfect for making any top or dress that is a little revealing into something you can wear anywhere. I keep the bottom the original size when I make them but I can easily box pleat the back on both sides to make them as small as you need under the breast.
I’ll get the others up soon but I have to photograph them first.
It’s back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

I thought I might be able to get a vintage photo look out of the swimsuit I wore. So, I had B take a few shots. Keep in mind that these photos were taken with a theme in mind and since my body doesn’t go with that theme, they are heavily photoshopped. My body looks like everyone else who’s 43. Remember this? This place is magical. I’m sayin’ this now so you can all be preparing for later. When we make the move you’re all invited to come and stay with us if you ever make the trip to Tennessee. I think that would be fun. Keep in mind we will be roughly 35 miles from the nearest Wal-Mart and decent grocery store. In other words, we will be in the sticks.

Meet Miss Rylee Addison. Me and the B have nicknamed her Riley James since that is what we had named her before she was born. Who says aunts and uncles can’t have some say in it especially when they are the favorite aunts and uncles which we intend on being. I told B, “this one is mine.” He and Kenlee seem to team up and leave me out so I’m just gettin’ my own sweet girly.

We changed our plans tonight to do absolutely nothing but edited that once again to play for a bit in the backyard with the camera.

There were a few unnecessary things here and there in the photos so i cropped them down square but I think it adds to it and I’ve not done anything square in a while. Just as we were finishing off we decided to do a little spin video for ya. I’m such a wimp when it comes to motion. Got a little sick for a sec. Have a great weekend/4th.
